Frequently Asked Questions
What patients ask before a first visit, and our answers.
01What should I expect at my first appointment?
A new-patient visit takes about an hour: an exam, X-rays if your dentist decides you need them, and time to talk about your goals. You leave with a written plan and an estimate for any treatment.
02Do you take my dental insurance?
We bill PPO and indemnity dental plans and file the claim for you. DHMO plans, Medicare Advantage and Medicaid work differently, so call us with your plan's name and we will tell you plainly where we stand. Our How fees work page has the details.
03What if I don't have insurance?
You pay the fee for your visit, and we give you a written estimate before treatment starts. If a lender's financing suits you, it is offered by third-party lenders; approval and terms are set by the lender.
04Do you see patients on Medicaid or CHIP?
Call us with your plan's name and we will answer plainly. The answer depends on the plan, and we would rather tell you before you book than after.
05Will it hurt?
We numb the area before treatment and you can ask for a break at any time. Tell us if you are anxious when you book, and we will talk through what we offer and who would provide it before treatment is scheduled.
06How often do I need X-rays and a cleaning?
Your dentist decides, based on your exam and your history. Many adults come twice a year; some need visits more often, and some less.
07What is a deep cleaning?
A deeper cleaning below the gumline, recommended when your dentist finds gum disease on your exam. They explain what they found, why, and what the alternatives are.
08Do you see children?
Yes. Our dentists are general dentists and see families. Tell us your child's age when you book and we will plan the visit around it.
09What counts as a dental emergency?
Call us the same day for a knocked-out tooth, a broken tooth with pain, or swelling in the face. If you have trouble breathing or swallowing, or swelling spreading toward your eye or neck, call 911 or go to an emergency room first.
10Can I get a written estimate before treatment?
Yes. Ask when you book or at your exam. It lists each treatment, the visits it takes and what it will cost, and you can take it home to decide.
11Do you speak Spanish?
The languages our team speaks are listed on the Team page. If you would like to visit in another language, tell us when you book and we will say what we can arrange.
12How do I cancel or change a visit?
Call us or send a message at least 24 hours ahead and we will find another time. If something comes up sooner, call us and we will work it out.
